The Hunter Story
It all started back in 1886. In those days, people were lucky to have electricity at all, let alone the air conditioning we take for granted today. People were hot. They needed a solution. That’s where the innovations of John and James Hunter came in. This father and son team built the first water-driven ceiling fan in upstate New York, a technological breakthrough for the time. The fan was a hit.
Little did the Hunters know their small manufacturing business would grow into a world-renowned brand that would set the world standard for quality, beauty, and precision craftsmanship within the ceiling-fan industry.
Soon Hunter was shipping these rugged fans with hand-weighted and balanced blades all across the country as well as by the boatload to India, the Far East, and Africa. Just 17 years later, a Hunter ceiling fan became one of the first products ever to run on electricity.
Today, Hunter combines this 19th century craftsmanship with 21st century design and technology to create fans of unmatched quality, style, and whisper-quiet performance. Fans that are as tough on the inside as they are beautiful on the outside. Fans that John and James Hunter would still be proud of more than 120 years later.
